Camping season is here! British Columbia has opened up their Provincial parks and if you're anything like me, you're ready to pack up and head out ASAP.
One thing I never forget to pack for our camping adventures (or any outdoor adventure, really!) is my essential oils. These come in handy for first aid treatment, cleaning, repelling insects, promoting sleep, allergies, and so much more.
My top 5 essential oils for camping have to be Lavender, Citronella, Tea Tree, Peppermint, and Lemon Eucalyptus!
Lavender is so versatile and comes in handy for basically anything - bee stings, skin irritation, bruises, burns and cuts, insomnia, allergies... you name it!
Citronella just smells like summer to me. We constantly battle those pesky insects and Citronella is my go-to repellent.
Tea Tree oil is another one of my favourites when it comes to repelling insects. Mosquitos hate tea tree oil! Mix a few drops with coconut oil and rub it on as a great insect repellent. It also works wonders after a day out in the sun and works to heal any sunburns. Another win for the coconut oil + tea tree oil combo!
Peppermint oil works great to keep ants at bay. Put a few drops around your picnic table and they will steer clear. It also helps with headaches and is a cooling oil for skin that may have seen a little too much sun.
Lemon Eucalyptus is pain relieving, antiseptic, and antiviral. It became an unexpected favourite but is just so handy for repelling insects and healing wounds! It's high in cleansing citronellal and citronella which makes it great for surface and skin cleansing.
Essential oils make such a huge difference for us on our trips! You definitely won't regret bringing them along.
