Next-Generation Tuberculosis Vaccine Research and Treatment Strategies
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health challenge in 2026, particularly with the rise of multi-drug-resistant (MDR-TB) strains. While the BCG vaccine has been used for over a century, its efficacy in adults is limited. Current research is focused on "Prime-Boost" strategies, where the BCG vaccine is followed by a booster of a recombinant protein or viral-vector vaccine.

These new protocols utilize potent combinations of bactericidal agents that can penetrate the thick waxy wall of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis, improving compliance and reducing the emergence of resistance.
